Description
The Cascade Ensemble — Ceramics Collection
Some ideas do not arrive finished. They unfold: a project that grows a little more each morning, a page that leads to the next, a thought you keep returning to because it is not done with you yet. The Cascade Ensemble was chosen for that kind of work.
Its blooms do not sit still. They pour over the rim of the cup and trail down onto the saucer, the way a vine finds its own path towards the light. Every flower is pinched from clay and placed by hand, one at a time, by ceramic artisans in Fujian. There are no moulds, so no two cups cascade in exactly the same way.
Choose your bloom.
Wisteria — In Chinese tradition, wisteria (紫藤, zǐténg) stands for devotion and lasting love: a vine that holds on and keeps flowering, year after year. Soft lilac-purple clusters for the work you keep coming back to and the people you make it for.
Scarlet Jade Vine — Coral-red blooms trailing over the cup, the handle painted with fine branch markings like a living vine. Striking and generous, and in Chinese tradition red carries warmth and good fortune. For the bold idea you have been waiting to begin. Please note: our photograph shows the cup on a white saucer; your Scarlet Jade Vine set arrives with its matching blush-pink saucer.
A cup for a slower pour. At about 190 ml, the Cascade cup is sized for a proper cup of tea or a short coffee: enough for the first quiet hour, refilled as the work unfolds.
More than a saucer. At about 16 cm long, the saucer is lovely on its own. Rest your rings on it while you work with your hands, keep it on your desk for pen nibs and clips, or set a small candle on it in the evening.
Ways to use your Cascade. One cup and one saucer, sold together as a set — and a few of the ways they can live on your table.

Before you order. Every piece is shaped entirely by hand, with no machine moulds, so each one is truly one of a kind: the flowers, curves and small details will differ from piece to piece and from the photographs. Because each piece is handmade and fired at high temperature, you may notice tiny variations in size, gentle unevenness in the glaze, the odd pinprick or a soft run of glaze. These are the natural marks of handwork and the kiln, not flaws. The sculpted petals are fine and delicate, so please handle your ensemble gently and avoid knocks, pressure and drops. When it arrives, do open and check it straight away; if anything has been damaged in transit, take a photo and contact us so we can make it right.
Handmade things carry warmth. Their small imperfections are what make them yours.
Caring for your pieces: Wipe gently with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water, using a soft brush between the blossoms. Avoid scourers or anything hard that could scratch the glaze or catch a petal, and please avoid the dishwasher. Warm the cup with a little hot water before pouring in boiling tea, and lift it by the body or handle, never by the flowers.
Delivery time: each ensemble travels to Singapore by air from the artisans’ studio in Fujian, then is packed for fragile travel and sent on to your door. Please allow 10–14 working days from the date of your order.
Colour disclaimer: every piece is hand-sculpted and glazed by hand, then fired in a kiln, so no two are exactly alike. Our photographs are taken under studio lighting and may also appear differently on your screen. The colour of the cups, saucers and flowers you receive may therefore differ from the colours shown in our images.
